The Col de Bavella is a road pass that is situated at 1218m altitude. It is marked by a statue of Notre Dame des Neiges, there is a panorama of granite peaks and forests.
The mountains of Bavella are situated in the South East of the island. What is referred to as ‘Les Aiguilles’ are the towering pinnacles of serrated granite peaks that have a very hostile beauty.
Walks from the Col de Bavella :
- The variant alpine is a GR20 variation. It takes you up and over the top of the mountain. You pass through the soaring pinnacles and enjoy some great scenery. The going is rough, it involves some scrambling and you need to use your hands in places the massif. One short section over a rock slab has been equipped by a hand chain. You drop down into the valley floor and can come back to the col via the normal GR trail that flanks around the bottom of the massif.
